Have your say by Thursday 28 March 2019
The Commonwealth Government has announced plans to commence a Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.
The Royal Commission will focus on what governments, institutions and the community should do to prevent violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people living with disability.
The Commonwealth Government is seeking comments and suggestions on what the scope of the Royal Commission should be, to ensure it investigates the issues and areas that are most important to the community.
JFA Purple Orange knows that so many of our supporters and followers have lived experiences with disability or strong connections and knowledge of people living with disability. Therefore, we know that your input into establishing the scope for the Royal Commission is valuable.
There are two different ways that you can contribute.
The Commonwealth Government is only accepting comments and suggestions via a survey. You can share your views on the scope of the Royal Commission by completing the Terms of Reference survey (or type in www.surveymonkey.com/r/LSXH77X) before Thursday 28 March 2019.
The survey website is fully accessible and includes an easy-read guide and Auslan video to support people with disability and others to help shape this landmark process.
If you would prefer to not complete the survey directly but you still wish to have a say, we are happy to coordinate the process on your behalf. You can contact Mikaila Crotty, Policy & Research Leader on 08 8373 8313 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org and she can submit your comments and suggestions through the survey method for you.
JFA Purple Orange feels strongly that this Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability is necessary and we are keen for as many people as possible to have their say into what the scope of this Commission should be.
